The Smiling Easel
Incorporates the Florida Standards for visual arts into all lessons.
Introduces students to a variety of mediums.
Teaches color usage, design and concept.
Fosters self-esteem through skill building and independent thinking.
Exposes students to the timeline of art history, in addition to world cultures.
Nurtures creativity in a fun, safe, structured environment.
Classes meet weekly and are exclusive to the students enrolled at participating schools and are not open to the public.
Workshops are theme based, and are taught at different intervals throughout the year at various cultural institutions and churches within the community and are open to the public.
Stacey Barden created The Smiling Easel to share her knowledge and passion for art with aspiring young artists.
Ms. Barden has 15 years of teaching experience, having worked with students in early childhood through secondary education, as well as working with students with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
She's an active member of the arts community and a member of the National Art Education Association, in addition to holding faculty positions at both Memorial Presbyterian Day School and Veritas Classical School in St. Augustine, Florida.
